Wake up and chew on this buzzy cud: If you don't have time to sip your morning cup of Joe, you can now eat it instead.
That's the big, stimulating idea behindGo Cubes．They're bite-sized chewable caffeine shots fromNootrobox, a San Francisco startup that not coincidentally also makes nootropics,controversialso-called "smart drugs" that the company says "enhance your mental state."
The soft, square gummies are made with cold-brewed coffee, along with sugar and corn syrup to cut the bitterness. Dusted in sugar crystals, the gooey brown lumps come in three flavors -- "Mocha," "Pure Drip" and "Latte." Bonus: no spills.

On top of packing 50 milligrams of caffeine each, every individual Go Cube also contains "brain vitamin" nootropic supplements, such as L-theanine (an amino acid found in green tea), vitamin B6 and methylated B12, all of which Nootrobox contends "improve caffeine for enhanced focus and clarity" and "ameliorate the jitteriness of caffeine．"
Safety-wise, Geoffrey Woo, Nootropics CEO and co-founder, points out onProduct Huntthat the ingredients in Go Cubes are GRAS,generally recognized as safeby the FDA. However, it's noted on the Go Cubes website that his company's claims about the chews have not been evaluated by the government agency.
Woo and his lean startup team successfully crowdfunded the pocket-sized biteson Indiegogolate last year, blazing past their $20,000 funding goal. The total haul: $61,516.

We're interested to see if these clever caffeine cubes -- hyped as "the future of coffee" -- really take off. Especially when there's already so muchcompetition brewingin thecaffeinated munchies department, not to mention the explodingmultibillion-dollarenergy edibles arena -- shots, drinks,oral spraysand all.
